Poor m42 refuses to die. Thrust bearing is so bad that the flywheel started to eat into the oil pan. After it ate some of the oil pan material it stopped making weird noises and now it drives great.
There are some reports on the internets that stock unopened engines survived 20+ psi from some mid sized turbos and pushing 350-400 whp quite reliably.
I guess the engine is due for rebuild anyway.
I cranked the boost to 20ish and drove it for a bit. It pulls significantly better than on the lousy 12psi that i used to run. 3rd gear after 5k rpm is getting a bit scary. Also i spiked to 25ish and broke loose 3rd gear before i hit boost cut 😂
Do i crank the boost to 25 and find the limit of the stock head bolts or should i let it live for the rest of the season?

I guess I wont be finding the limits or maybe the limit has been found. The block was pretty crusty when i assembled it. There was some good pitting on the cylinder walls. Compression was great tho and it was good for 1-2k miles but now it has so much blow by that it pushes the oil back to turbo and its leaking into both intake and exhaust side past the turbo seals. Still pulls amazing it just smokes quite terribly. Now i am tempted to open it and see if its rings or maybe I melted piston a bit 😂
