The "but why?" Project: '97 Fiat Cinquecento Sporting

Start of a new project!
Fiat Cinquecento Sporting
Simple. Cheap. Fun.
My daily companion.
Some people don’t understand this car and therefore don’t understand why I would trow my money at it.
But the character… It’s the raw and old school feeling what makes this car so great. Parts are mega cheap and just fun and stupidly easy to work on.
So… Let’s do some tuning :)
I bought a ported 1.2 head fitted with “866” Punto P75 camshaft. Also a better flowing intake manifold with larger 38mm throttle body and Novitec carbon intake; making it the full Novitec kit including ‘98 receipts. The stock 1.1L SPI 8V FIRE engine produces 54hp. With the new setup I’m hoping to see 60-65hp! In 700kg.
As I’m writing this, I’ve already done a lot of disassembly on my Friday evening.
Found out the coolant contained a lot of rust; contaminating the block :( And then, there was the built up oil sludge (65.000km engine!)…
Hmmm… The to-do list is growing. Let’s do it right! It deserves some love and a deep-deep clean✨
Good night for now.

Yessss! This car is so cool. Cant help but love it, and yellow is the perfect loud color for it. What’s your plan for dealing with the rusty/sludgy block?

Thanks so much! And yes it had to be a yellow one for me. To be honest, not all that much. I have flushed the coolant 3 times and oil once before disassembly to be sure. The car never ran hot even in summer city heat. These engines are pretty bulletproof overall, so I’m fine with what’s left.

My friend had one with 900cc motor. Fun little cars. There was another guy in my high school who had 1.1 sporting and another one in my town with motor swap from Uno turbo
