Decisions & Unknowns
What I need to figure out:
•
Replace the damaged head rather than reuse it.
•
Use a scavenge pump and vented accumulator sump to manage the turbo oil return.
Tasks
What I need to do:
•
Remove the head after finding coolant on cylinder 5 and locating damage at the fire-ring sealing surface.
•
Have the replacement head cleaned, fitted with exhaust-guide liners, given a valve job and resurfaced.
•
Refresh the turbo and revise the oil-return plumbing, including the scavenge pump and vented accumulator sump.
•
Return the engine to service and verify the oil-consumption problem was greatly reduced.
