Decisions & Unknowns
What I need to figure out:
•
Choose the bottom-end refresh after inspecting the donor engines.
•
Decide whether to use H-beam rods or retain the factory rods.
•
Inspect the crank and bearings before deciding whether to replace the main bearings.
•
Choose new rings or reuse the existing rings after inspection.
•
Resolve dual VVT sensor fitment and ECU control.
•
Determine how to fit the cam sensors behind the head, including sensor rotation or an earlier, thinner sensor.
•
Configure MaxxECU for both cam sensors and VVT solenoids.
Tasks
What I need to do:
•
Acquire and begin disassembly of the .
•
Inspect the donor blocks, heads, crankshafts, valves and bearings, then select usable components.
•
Have the selected block and head cleaned and machined as needed, and refresh the engine with seals and gaskets.
•
Adapt the exhaust-side water pipe and complete the dual VVT wiring.
•
Assemble the engine, install it and verify operation with MaxxECU.
