B5244T5 engine refresh and dual VVT
Prepare a replacement B5244T5 with a mostly stock internal configuration and adapt dual VVT, cam sensors and cooling plumbing to the 242.


Retain factory rods or fit H-beams?
•
Reuse the piston rings or install new Genuine Volvo rings? Inspect main bearings before deciding on replacement.

Finalize the thinner cam sensor arrangement behind the head and dual VVT control in MaxxECU.
Tasks
•
Acquire and strip and acquire a second engine as a parts source. Disassemble the head.
•
Remove the crank and send the head and block for cleaning, resurfacing for the factory MLS gasket and valve guide work.
•
Inspect bearings, deglaze bores and assemble with Glyco sputter rod bearings.
•
Lap the valves, install stem seals and use Genuine Volvo seals, gaskets and head bolts.
•
Terminate both cam sensors and VVT solenoids in the existing harness and configure MaxxECU.
•
Finish the extra exhaust-side block water connection and install the engine.
