Cylinder head replacement and turbo refresh
Replace the detonation-damaged head, rebuild the turbo and renew exhaust hardware and coatings.


Replace the head after finding deep damage at the fire ring sealing area. Reuse the bled-down followers from the original head.
Tasks
•
Have the replacement head cleaned, inspected and resurfaced, with bronze exhaust guide liners, recut valves and seats and bowl cleanup.
•
Rebuild at Boost Lab with a replacement compressor wheel.
•
Install Keensert-style inserts and new studs in the head and manifold. Use silver-plated nuts and Nord-Lock washers.
•
Sandblast and Cerakote the manifold and turbine housing. Add an EGT thermocouple and open the wastegate passage.
•
Reassemble the engine with the wrinkle-black cam cover and revise the turbo oil return.
